Ortigia

Ortigia is the historic heart of the city of Syracuse, a small island connected to mainland Sicily by short bridges.

A beautiful place to wander through the baroque backstreets, eat authentic street food and sit by the ocean with an aperol.

From here you can take lots of day trips. Boat trips are really popular from self drive to sailing. if you fancy a beach there's lots of beautiful public beaches nearby.

ortigia is only 30 minutes drive from the venue and the perfect place to start or finish your trip.

Taormina

A beautiful italian town set high up near mount etna.

recommendations for visiting taormina aren't complete without a granita at bam bar and a visit to the amphitheatre.

a 2hr direct train ride from siracusa and only an hour from catania.

We've done several day trips here from siracusa so this is absolutely doable if you want to travel for a day.

fancy a longer trip? we recommend spending the day down in isola bella, listening to the waves on the classic italian stone beach.

Noto

noto is a historic UNESCO World Heritage site renowned as the "capital" of Sicilian Baroque architecture. noto is around 40 minutes from siracusa.

There's lots of options for public transport, or is a relatively easy drive.

A good day trip from siracusa if you're extending your stay.
